Greeting in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, from whom ALL blessing flow! The Holy Spirit is continuing to guide this ministry without anything that I could possibly do myself!
I would ask you to fellowship one to another and share the Word (JESUS) to and with others.
I thank all you who have chosen to follow Sharing God’s Word Today Broadcast Ministry. I would also let you know that YOU CAN join in on a Bible Study online, leave a comment, or a prayer request.

NOW THE STUDY –

We will continue with John 7: 19-36.

VERSES 19-24 ARE KEY BECAUSE OF WHAT JESUS STATES IN VERSE 19.

19 Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?
20 The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

REFERENCE:
John 7 King James Version
(KJV)
7 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

21 Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
22 Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
23 If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?
24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

Genesis 17:9-14 King James Version (KJV)

9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
14 And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

Exodus 12:44 King James Version (KJV)
44 But every man’s servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.

Exodus 12:48 King James Version (KJV)
48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

25 Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?

AS YOU WILL NOTE, IT WAS COMMON KNOWLEDGE THAT THE JEWS WANTED TO KILL JESUS. LOOK AT JOHN 7:20 AGAIN.
The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?

26 But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

LOOK AT WHAT JOHN 12 HAS TO SAY.
REFERENCE:

John 12:37-43 King James Version (KJV)
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
43 For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

27 Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
28 Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

29 But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.

30 Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

THERE IS THAT STATEMENT AGAIN! SEE JOHN 8:20
John 8:20 King James Version (KJV)
20 These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

32 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
REFERENCE:
JESUS ALSO SAID THIS TO HIS DISCIPLES:
John 13:33 King James Version
(KJV)
33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you.

34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
REFERENCE:
THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WITH HIS DISCIPLES:

John 13:36 King James Version (KJV)
36 Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?

36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

Next comes in the Holy Spirit!

JOHN CHAPTER 7: 1-53

June 13, 2021

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

I Greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom ALL blessing flow!!  I thank my Lord Jesus Christ that He has allowed me to share His word in this medium!

Let us remember what PETER said:

2 Peter 3:18

“But grow in graceand in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  To Him be glory both now and forever. Amen.”

These are indeed words for us to live by.

LET’S BEGIN:

CHAPTER 7 REPRESENTS THE 3RD PORTION OF THE MINISTRY OF JESUS – THE REJECTION OF THE KING.

John 7 King James Version (KJV)

After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

JEWRY= A JEWS’ DISTRICT

Now the Jew’s feast of tabernacles was at hand.

His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.

For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.

For neither did his brethren believe in him.

Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.

REFERENCE:

John 10:17-18 King James Version (KJV)

17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Matthew 26:18 King James Version (KJV)

18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.

Matthew 26:45 King James Version (KJV)

45 Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

REFERENCE:

John 15:18-19 King James Version (KJV)

18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast: for my time is not yet full come.

JESUS’S PURPOSE HAS NOT BEEN FULLFILLED.

When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.

IN JOHN’S GOSPEL, THE WORD ABODE HAS 41 OCCURANCE WHILE LUKE, THE NEXT CLOSEST HAS 7.

10 But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

VERSES 11-36 JESUS IS AT THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES.

11 Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?

12 And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

THIS CONCERN ABOUT JESUS CONTINUED AFTER THE HEALING OF THE MAN BORN BLIND.

REFERENCE:

John 9:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.

13 Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

14 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.

MATTHEW TELLS US THAT JESUS WENT ABOUT ALL GALILEE TEACHING.

REFERENCE:

Matthew 4:23 King James Version (KJV)

23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

15 And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

REFERENCE:

Matthew 13:54 King James Version (KJV)

54 And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.

REFERENCE:

Deuteronomy 18:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

Deuteronomy 18:18 King James Version (KJV)

18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

REFERENCES:  note what John 12: 47-50 has to say!

John 8:28 King James Version (KJV)

28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

John 12:47-50 King James Version (KJV)

47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

As we seek the meaning of scriptures, let the scriptures explain themselves:

REFERENCE:

Philippians 2:3-8 King James Version (KJV)

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

JOHN’S GOSPEL CHAPTER 6:50-71
Dr. William T. Bailey, Jr.
SGWTBM

Praise the Lord saint of the Most High God! Again, thank you for following the truth of God’s word, for the WORD is Jesus Christ.

It is the word of God that we must followed today, look at Joshua’s final message to Israel:

Joshua 24:15
King James Version
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

The question for us today is who are you following, the World or Jesus? From the very beginning God separated the believers from the world.

Genesis 3:15
King James Version
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

NOW, CONTINUING WITH TODAY’S MESSAGE – JOHN 6:50

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

LOOK AT WHAT THIS MEANS TO US AS BELIEVERS AS REVEALED BY PAUL:
REFERENCE:
Galatians 2:20
King James Version (KJV)
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Colossians 3:3-4 King James Version (KJV)
3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

SPEAKING OF THE RESURRECTION

55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

FROM VERSES 60 TO 65 THE DISCIPLES ARE TESTED BY DOCTRINE

60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?

61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?

62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?

REFERENCE:
Daniel 7:13
King James Version (KJV)
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
Daniel 7:14-15 King James Version (KJV)
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.

It not that Daniel understood what he saw, he just reported what he saw.

63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

OR, GIVES LIFE.

64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

REFERENCE:
John 10:24-25
King James Version (KJV)
24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.

65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

HERE IS PETER’S CONFESSION OF FAITH

66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT VERSE ACCORDING TO 1st JOHN 2:19

REFERENCE:
1 John 2:19
King James Version (KJV)
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

MAY GOD BLESS YOU ABUNDANTLY IS MY PRAYER!

GREETINGS IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND GOD THE FATHER WHO GAVE HIS SON THAT WE SHOULD BELIEVE AND NOT PERISH. AMEN

BROTHERS AND SISTERS, CALLED TO BE SAINTS, OUR LORD KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD TODAY. THEREFORE, TAKE HEART:
REFERENCE:
GALATIANS 6:7
“BE NOT DECEIVED, GOD IS NOT MOCKED: FOR WHATSOEVER A MAN SOWETH, THAT SHALL HE ALSO REAP.”

TAKE NOTE, VERSES 30-59 SPEAKS OF JESUS SENT FROM HEAVEN.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

JESUS TOLD THE NOBLEMAN:
JOHN 4:48 – “THEN SAID JESUS UNTO HIM, EXCEPT YE SEE SIGNS AND WONDERS, YE WILL NOT BELIEVE.”

ALSO THOMAS:
John 20:24
King James Version
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.

John 20:25
King James Version
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

AND WHAT DID JESUS SAY ABOUT THIS, TO US?
John 20:29
King James Version
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

THAT’S US!!

THERE ARE TWO QUESTIONS THEY ASK OF JESUS IN VERE 30.

REVIEW:
John 6:30

King James Version
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

REFERENCES:
Matthew 12:38-42 King James Version (KJV)
38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
41 The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

42 The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

AND HERE IS THE WORK THAT JESUS WILL/HAS DONE.

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?

NOTE THIS QUESTION IN MATTHEWS.
REFERENCE:

Matthew 13:55-56 King James Version (KJV)
55 Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things?

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

THIS WAS REFERENCED IN VERSE 37 ABOVE.

ANOTHERT REFERENCE:
Ephesians 2:8-9
King James Version (KJV)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.

46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.

47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.

49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
REFERENCE:
1 Corinthians 10:1-5
King James Version (KJV)
10 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

WHY?
BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF.

Bless you, Bless you and BLESS YOU!! It is indeed a pleasure to come before you with the words of the Lord!! Scripture tells us in Psalms 34:19 “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” Praise the Lord for deliverance! Look at how many times Paul was delivered. There has been no greater time in our history that we need to understand what the Bible via the Holy Spirit is revealing to the Saints today. For background read what Ezra has to say and then read what Zechariah has to say about Shepherds (Pastors).

FROM OUR LAST STUDY, I WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT THESE TWO SCRIPTURES.

THIS IS WHAT MOSES SAID:

Deuteronomy 18:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

THE LORD GOD VERIFIED WHAT MOSES SAID.

Deuteronomy 18:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

JOHN 6: 15

JESUS WALKS ON THE WATER VERSE 15-21
15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.

Jesus states in John 18:36-37
REFERENCE:

John 18:36-37 King James Version (KJV)
36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.

YOU WILL NOTE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JOHN AN MATTHEW’S GOSPEL
REFERENCES:
Matthew 14:23-33
King James Version (KJV)
23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.
25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.
26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear.
27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

REFERENCE:
30 FURLONGS IS EQUAL TO 3.41 MILES.

20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.

21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.

which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one where into his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

JESUS ALWAYS SEES WHAT IS IN THEIR HEARTS!

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

JESUS THEN TELL THEM WHAT THEY SHOULD INDEED LABOUR FOR.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
AND WHAT WAS JESUS RESPONSE?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
AND WHAT IS IT THAT WE MUST BELIEVE? IT IS THE DEATH, BURIAL AND RESURECTION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST!

JESUS, SENT FROM HEAVEN VERSES 30-59

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?

THERE ARE TWO QUESTIONS THEY ASK OF JESUS IN VERE 30.
REFERENCES:
Matthew 12:38-42
King James Version (KJV)

APRIL 4, 2021

PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD, PRAISE THE LORD!

TODAY IN OUR WORLD, BROTHERS AND SISTERS ARE MANY GRAVEN IMAGES USED BY OUR SOCIETY. THIS AND MANY OTHER “SIGNS” ARE PRESENT WITH US. THE MEDIA BEING ONE OF THEM.

2 Timothy 1:7
King James Version
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

WHAT ARE WE TO DO WITH THIS POWER, LOVE AND SOUND MIND? TO FIRST UNDERSTAND THAT WE DO NOT WRESTLE AGAINST FLESH AND BLOOD.THEN WHO DO WE WRESTLE AGAINST? PAUL TELLS US THAT IT IS AGAINST PRINCIPALITIES, POWERS, RULERS OF THE DARKNESS OF THIS WORLD. THIS IS WHY WE HAVE POWER, LOVE AND A SOUND MIND. AND HOW ARE WE TO USE THIS? BY PUTTING ON THE WARRIOR’S ARMOUR. EPHESIANS 6:11 “PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD, THAT YE MAY BE ABLE TO STAND AGAINST THE WILES OF THE DEVIL.” ALTHOUGHT ALL OF THE “SIGNS” ARE WITH US TODAY, REMEMBER, GALATIANS 6:7 “BE NOT DECEIVED; GOD IS NOT MOCKED: FOR WHATSOEVER A MAN SOWETH, THAT SHALL HE ALSO REAP.

NOW, JOHN 6

6 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

A QUESTION YOU SHOULD ASK YOURSELVES IS WHAT WAS “AFTER THESE THINGS”?

THE PURPOSE OF JOHN’S GOSPEL CAN BE FOUND IN JOHN 20: 30-31.
REFERENCE

John 20:30-31 King James Version (KJV)
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
JOHN 5: 39-40 JESUS REVEALED WHAT THE SCRIPTURES SAID ABOUT ETERNAL LIFE. SEE VERSE 31 ABOVE.

2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
REFERENCE:
Matthew 4:23 King James Version (KJV)
23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
ALL THIS WAS DONE IN GALILEE.

3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.

4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

TWO HUNDRED PENNYWORTH OR DENARIUS IS EQUVALENT TO 32 DOLLARS OR, ONE DENARIUS IS WAS VALUED AT $0.16.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

HAD THIS BEEN DONE BEFORE? THIS SAME QUESTION WAS ASK OF A SERVANT OF ELISHA.
REFERENCE:

2 Kings 4:42-44 King James Version (KJV)
42 And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat.
43 And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the Lord, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof.
44 So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the Lord.

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

IT WAS UNDERSTOOD BY THESE MEN THAT REFERENCE WAS MADE TO THE OLD TESTAMENT,
RERFERENCE:

Genesis 49:10 King James Version (KJV)
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

Deuteronomy 18:15 King James Version (KJV)
15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;

Deuteronomy 18:18 King James Version (KJV)
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

JOHN CHAPTER 5: 16-38

Dr. William T. Bailey, Jr.
SGWTBM
March 4, 2021

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior from which all things have their beginnings. Paul told us that in “sundry times and in divers manners God spoke to the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS Son…..” How is this done? Thru the Bible! IT IS UP TO US TO DIG INTO HIS WORD TO DETERMINE WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON. That is why Paul told Timothy to STUDY for himself as we also must do.

Let us know continue:

16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

Here was the beginning of open hostility.

Verses 17-24 Jesus claims equality with the Father.

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
REFERENCES:
John 9:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

John 17:4 King James Version (KJV)
4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

BEGIN RESEARCH HERE 12/2/19 and 12/16/19
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.

REFERENCES: Read verses 1-2
Luke 6:3-11 King James Version (KJV)
3 And Jesus answering them said, Have ye not read so much as this, what David did, when himself was an hungred, and they which were with him;
4 How he went into the house of God, and did take and eat the shewbread, and gave also to them that were with him; which it is not lawful to eat but for the priests alone?
5 And he said unto them, That the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
6 And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand was withered.
7 And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.
8 But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst. And he arose and stood forth.
9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?
10 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored whole as the other.
11 And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

IT IS NOTEWORTHY TO NOTE THAT JOHN RECORDS JESUS AS SAYING, VERILY, VERILY, 33 TIMES. AND VERILY = AMEN.

20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
REFERENCE:
Matthew 11:27 King James Version (KJV)
27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

PAUL IN 1ST CORINTHIANS 15:51 REVEALS TO BELIEVERS THIS MYSTERY.
REFERENCES:
1 Corinthians 15:51-57 King James Version (KJV)
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
REFERENCE:
Revelation 20:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

VERSE 24 IS ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT VERSE.
REFERENCE:
John 6:47 King James Version (KJV)
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Verses 25 to 29, Jesus speaks of the two resurrections.

25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
AGAIN, 1 CORINTHIANS 15:52
REFERENCE:
1 Corinthians 15:52 King James Version (KJV)
52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

VERSE 30 TO 32 JESUS SPEAKS OF THE WITNESS

30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

FROM 33-35 IS THE WITNESS OF JOHN THE BAPTIST

33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.

34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.

VERSE 36 SPEAKS OF THE WORKS OF JESUS

36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

VERSE 37-38 IS THE WITNESS OF THE FATHER

37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.

19 And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them:

40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

WHAT LIFE? THE LIFE THAT VERSE 39 STATES.

41 I receive not honour from men.

42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.

43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

NOW, THE 3RD SIGN

3rd Sign –   The Impotent Man – John 5: 1-47

John 5:8-15 King James Version (KJV)

8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take thy bed and walk.

9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.

12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?

13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.

4th Sign – The Feeding of the Five Thousand – John 6: 1-14

John 6:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.

5th Sign –  The Walking on the Sea – 6: 15-21

John 6:19 King James Version (KJV)

19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.

John 6:24-29 King James Version (KJV)

24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.

27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

The 4th and 5th sign are significant because they are recorded in the other gospels:

Matt. 14:23

Mark 6:35

Luke 9:10

Matt. 14:23

Mark 6:47

In the two signs 4 and 5, Jesus reveals that He can supply temporal needs as Messiah:

John 6:6-13 King James Version (KJV)

6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.

7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

And can supply their spiritual needs as creator and Lord:

John 6:32-51 King James Version (KJV)

43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.

44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

6th Sign – The Man Born Blind – 9: 1-41

Both Signs 3 and 6 has reference to Israel both are associated with a POOL and with Sin.

John 5:2 and 9:7

John 5:2 King James Version (KJV)

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.

John 5:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.

John 9:7 King James Version (KJV)

7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.

John 9:2 King James Version (KJV)

2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?

7th Sign – The Sisters’ Brother, Lazarus – John 11:1-44

The 2nd and 7th Sign are connected with Israel impending Death.

The Son [Israel] being at the point of death and Lazarus being already dead. [rejection of Jesus as Messiah]

John 4:47 King James Version (KJV)

47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

John 11:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

8th Sign – The Draught of Fishes John 21:1-14

John 21:1-14 King James Version (KJV)

21 After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.

4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.

6 And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.

7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher’s coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

8 And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.

9 As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

10 Jesus saith unto them, Bring of the fish which ye have now caught.

11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.

13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.

14 This is now the third time that Jesus shewed himself to his disciples, after that he was risen from the dead.

In these verses Jesus is manifesting His glory and in the 8th Sign, He manifested as Himself to His disciples.

JOHN CHAPTER 5: 1-37

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for all He has done for us and from whom ALL blessing flow!

This chapter was written around 27 AD and begins the second period of the Lord’s ministry, from 5-6:11.

All in this chapter takes place in Jerusalem.
John 5: 1-15 represents the 3rd of 8 signs presented by Jesus.

John 5:1-15 King James Version (KJV)
5 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

  1. The feast of Purim is suggested, but uncertain. The Feast of Purim is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the deliverance of the Jews from genocide during their exile in the Persian Kingdom. The Old Testament book of Esther provides the historical and theological background that explains the importance of the Feast of Purim.

2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
REFERENCE:
Nehemiah 3:1
King James Version (KJV)
3 Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests, and they builded the sheep gate; they sanctified it, and set up the doors of it; even unto the tower of Meah they sanctified it, unto the tower of Hananeel.

SHEEP MARKET
In the Revised Version (RV) It is translated “sheep gate”. In the KJV in is translated as “sheep market”. It is noted that it was near the Temple; the sacrifices for the Temple probably entered by it.
POOL
Daniel Webster defines pool as a small collection of water in a hollow place, supplied by a spring, and discharging its surplus water by an outlet.

PORCHES
D Webster’s definition is a gate, entrance or passage, or from a shelter.
John mention 5 porches. Five is the number for GRACE.
REFERENCE:
John 1:17
King James Version (KJV)
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
The impotent Man was under the law, BONDAGE, and it was by Grace that set him free.

This porch at the pool of Bethesda, was a covered colonnade in the Temple called Solomon’s porch.

REFERENCE: John 10:23 King James Version (KJV)

23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.

3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

Before getting totally into the lesson, I would like to touch briefly on the 8 signs which in themselves a separate teaching.

The 8 signs themselves also reveals pairs, which divine order:
1-8
2-7
3-6
4-5

The 8 signs given in John’s gospel are:
1st Sign – The Marriage in Cana –
John 2:11
King James Version (KJV)
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

As can be noted in this miracle, Israel could have no joy, no supplies, no blessing, no glory.
Here you will note that Jesus manifests his glory. This sign is also connected to the 8th sign which I will cover later.

In terms of Israel’s state, look at what Isaiah had to say:
REFERENCE:
Isaiah 1:10-23
King James Version (KJV)
10 Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.
11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the Lord: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.
12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
15 And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
16 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;
17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:
20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
21 How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.
22 Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:
23 Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

2nd Sign – The Nobleman’s son – John 4: 46-50
REFERENCE:
John 4:46-50
King James Version (KJV)
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
John 4:54 King James Version (KJV)
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

John 4:54 tells us that this is the second miracle and the demonstration of His power also called dunamis.

Other expressions/meaning of the miracle as expresses in verse 54, is inherent power, strength power that is put forth, Endowed power called physical strength, energy power and authority with power.

Miracles as expressed in the New Testament our termed:
Dunamis = power
Teras = a wonder
Semeion = a sign

Hebrews 2:4 uses all three words.
REFERENCE:
Hebrews 2:4
King James Version (KJV)
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?
The English word for miracle is from the Latin word “miraculum”, and means “wonder and is most used with “Teras”.

Here is what Daniel has to say about signs and wonders.
REFERENCE:
Daniel 4:1-3
King James Version (KJV)
4 Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
2 I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.

There many scriptures that speak of Signs and Wonders, here are some:

John Chapter 4

Dr. William T. Bailey, jr.
SGWTBM

Praise the Lord everyone and bless His Holy Name! Remember, nothing is a surprise to God, NOTHING! We left off at verse 35 where I ask the question.

Who is the “you” Jesus is referring to?  Matthew 9:37 tells us.

REFERENCE:
Matthew 9:37-38
King James Version (KJV)
37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

Look at what Psalms has to say:
REFERENCES:
Psalm 126:5-6 King James Version (KJV)
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

And,
Romans 6:22
King James Version (KJV)
22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

And,
This life eternal, Jesus has already shared with the woman of Samaria, in verse 4:10.

Lastly.
1 Thessalonians 2:19-20
King James Version (KJV)
19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
20 For ye are our glory and joy.

37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
REFERENCE:
1 Corinthians 3:5-9
King James Version (KJV)
5 Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?
6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.
7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.
8 Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.

38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
REFERENCES:
Jeremiah 44:4-5
King James Version (KJV)
4 Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.
5 But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

1 Peter 1:11-12 King James Version (KJV)
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

Jesus has addressed the diciples, now here, the Lord is going to address the Samaritans.

39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.

All did not believe, or had faith, but many did.

Luke also gives a view of the Samaritans when Jesus was passing through:
REFERENCES:
Luke 9:51-56
King James Version (KJV)
51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,
52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?
55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

41 And many more believed because of his own word;
WHY DID THEY BELIEVE?
REFERENCES:
Luke 4:32
King James Version (KJV)
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

John 6:63 King James Version (KJV)
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

John 7:46 King James Version (KJV)
46 The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.

Look at what the Samaritans came to realized, not because of what the woman said, but that they heard it for themselves.

43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
REFERENCES:
Matthew 13:57
King James Version (KJV)
57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Mark 6:4-5 King James Version (KJV)
4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

Luke 4:22-27 King James Version (KJV)
22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.
24 And he said, Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country.
25 But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
26 But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow.
27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian.

45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.

Review John 2: 13-23

John 2:13-23 King James Version (KJV)
13 And the Jews’ passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father’s house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

WHAT JESUS DID IN GALILEE

46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

This is similar to the servant being healed for the Centurion:
REFERENCES:
Matthew 8:5-13
King James Version (KJV)
5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,
6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.
7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.
8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

In these verses, the centurion shown his belief and that Jesus did not have to go with Centurion.

47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.

48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Look at verses 34-42 reveals the Jews unbelief.
REFERENCES:
John 6:34-42
King James Version (KJV)
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.

50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.

54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

NOTE:
This is similar to the servant being healed for the Centurion, but note the comment Jesus made aboutg the centurion’s belief.
